--The Wife of Bath as indeed a feminist. She believes that when she acquired all of the wealth from her past husbands she could control them. As she gained her status she started to talk out more. In that time the women wouldn't talk out but she thinking she is a upper-class she does. She also manipulated her first three husbands.
-- The theme is moral issues, the knight and The Wife of Bath. They both do wrong beings that go against the church. As well as many internal beliefs. The Wife marries many husbands and the knight rapes a women and defeats chivalry. This tale takes a strike right at the church and the knighthoods belief.
1. The definition of feminist is someone who believes that both sexes should be treated equally, or someone who supports woman's rights or activities. The Wife of Bath is a feminist, because she goes from not respecting herself at all towards the beginning, to thinking she is a sophisticated woman towards the end. At the end of the tale, she begins to talk to the knight as if she is royalty, and the knight is a piece of dirt. She calls out the knight on his title of a noble knight, and states that she is clearly better than he will ever be. At this moment, she is almost fighting for her beliefs towards the power of females, and the role they should be playing during this time period.
2. I believe the theme of the tale is the importance of power, and how each person could fit into different roles in society. After marrying 5 men, the woman in the tale is seen to be a disgusting, old, woman who nobody would ever love. She never fell in love, she was just in these relationships for the money, and the respect that she was gaining in the process. When she falls in love with the 5th man, but he treats her poorly, it shows the ironic side to the power that was held during this time. Even though he showed a different source of power, she still loved him, and nobody knew why. There was something in him that nobody but her could see, and I believe it was the power that he possessed.
A feminist is a person particularly a woman who believes in feminism, which is the belief that women should be equally the same as men in basically all attributes. Which may consist if status, education, and work. In the wife if bath it is some what hard to defend the wife as a feminist because she uses the manipulative stereotype that all men are easily manipulated by a woman who is able to use her sex appeal. But although it seem that she only does things for her own selfish means. She does speak her mind openly, and for at least her first 3 husbands she is not submissive and she does pursue what she wants. Which you could say is some thing a feminist would do
1. The wife of bath is feminist because she uses her power to obtain what she wants. She is very beautiful and most men want her but she wants them for the money and just uses them. She is confirming negative stereotypes about women and proving that women are manipulative and deceitful. Chaucer is not trying to present herself as a woman capable of independent thought and action because she is merely using the Bible, a text associated with the male authority, to back up her assertions. 2. One theme of this tale is power. The wife of bath thought she had complete power over her husbands and called them "good" if they obeyed her and 2 of them were "bad" if they didn't want her anymore and didn't give her the power she wanted.
-She is a feminist because she explains how she controls men and how women can easily manipulate men to get whatever they want. She also explains her wild younger years.
-females are more dominant than males via manipulation. She is able to control men by manipulating them by using her body and in other ways showing that women can control men
1.) Feminist are women who want to prove that they should be equal to men. In this tale the wife is open about her beliefs and wont go against them. The wife even acts like a guy when she sleeps with alot of people and why is it wrong that she would do it? Everyone would like to try and give everything to get what they want but she is succeding in getting what she wants. And that is to be equal to a guy or being a feminist. 2.) The theme of this tale is expect how you treat others to come back and get you. This meaning that how the wife is a gold digger and marries old rich guys just to get there money when they pass and when married she could force them to give her money. However at the end of this tale the wife actually falls in love with a guy who is using her for her money which proves the theme to expect to get what you give out to others to return to how they treat you.
