Item 1: Identify and EXPLAIN two themes in Macbeth, and use two examples from text to support the presence of the themes in the tragedy.
Item 2: Using two elements of Greek Tragedy, and two elements of Shakespearean tragedy, explain how Macbeth is both. Be sure to use examples from the TEXT (not the movie) for support.
Item 3: Who is the tragic hero in Macbeth? Defend your response.
Item 1:
ReplyDeleteMacbeth has many characters frequently dwelling on relationship with Masculinity and feminism. Lady Macbeth twists Macbeth to murder, Duncan. Macbeth also gets the murderers to kill Banquo by questioning their manhood. Macbeth also struggles with this as well; earlier in the play he says, “shakes so my single state of man that function.” When Lady Macbeth and Macbeth argue with manhood, a violent act is committed. Lady Macbeth can be just a cruel as man would be. Her character goes against how women should act in that time period, making her challenge, feminism. Malcolm also takes a shot at masculinity. He goes at Macbeth with ten thousand troops and wants his head. he makes a comment at the end of the play saying, “he’s worth more sorrow.” It shows Macbeth was important to the change of rule in Scotland, as well as learning a lesson.
The second theme is, The Prophecy of Life. Macbeth and Banquo meet three witches that reveal he will be the Thane of Cawdor and then king. This sets up to be true after the kings men tell him he really becomes this. Another prophecy says no man born of women can harm him, that Macbeth will be safe till the Birnam Woods comes to Dunsinane. Macbeth thinks he is pretty much unstoppable and at that moment untouchable. He doesn’t clearly think this through and really the prophecy’s and they end up being a riddle.
Item 2:
In a Greek Tragedy it has traditional and social attitudes along with them. In the start of the play, Macbeth took the thane of cawdor and slayed him to his belly button to his chin, then taking his head as a token of success. This takes a great deal with his rank in society. In social he has a deal with self discovery, he says “curses, not loud but deep, mouth-honor, breath.” He says how people honor him with their words but not in their hearts. It shows how he pretty much has accepted the fact people do not trust him anymore.
In a Shakespearean Tragedy there is an introduction to Supernatural figures and fearful phenomena. With supernatural figures there is three witches who bring a prophecy to Macbeth. Before they meet him they say “Fair is foul, and foul is fair.” We later see that Macbeth says the same line. Fearful figures come with about Macbeth. When he has the dinner party for the lords of Scotland he sees, Banquo at the table pointing at him. He starts to freak out as no one else can these things happen. It shows with the killing of all these people he is starting to lose his mind.
Item 3:
Macbeth is the tragic hero. He starts out to be a very respected and noble like figure in this society. With the witches telling him the prophecy he soon becomes very curious with these. He begins a plan on how to be the king. Shakespeare uses the witches as boiling point for Macbeths character to change. Another character that influences him is his wife, Lady Macbeth. She questions his manhood and ultimately leading to the murder of Duncan. He refuses the call to action by not wanting to kill Duncan, and bailing out several times. She shows him the concept of murder and reveals a new character that is power hungry, greedy, and violent. He is then tested by his enemies by Malcolm bringing ten thousand troops to fight him. An approach to kill Macbeth was by Macduff. He tested himself with Macbeth by not giving up. Macbeth said he can not be touched by a man born of women. Little does he know that Macduff was born a seasection. With all this leading up he leads to his own downfall and the death of Macbeth.

1. One major theme in Macbeth is Ambition can be a terrible thing. Macbeth was the thane of Cawdor and the greatest general of Scotland and he still wanted more. Macbeth had plenty of power and ambition. As king his ambitions is what made him kill his friend Banquo. In order to protect his nobility as king he had his friend killed. This wouldn’t have been so bad if he would not have killed most of his people and anyone who threatened his rule as king. Macbeth’s ambition like ISIS in the Middle East is good but only for so far. Macbeth like ISIS is taking it too far if Macbeth would have just stopped at killing the old King Duncan he would have been fine. ISIS is doing the same thing they are being too greedy they already have enough land and power what with all the oil fields and the extradition of the people in those countries they have taken. Along with donations from the wealthy ISIS is pretty well off. Another theme in Macbeth is power can be dangerous. As a general in the Duncan’s army Macbeth was the greatest in Scotland as soon as he became a little bit more powerful he became power hungry. He killed the king for more power and went insane. Take Joseph Stalin for example he had all this power as the leader of Russia during World War Two. He killed all sorts of people anyone who stood in his way or threatened his seat of power he killed just like Macbeth in the play.
2. Macbeth is both a Shakespearean tragedy and a Greek tragedy because it focuses on the psychological and ethical attributes of the characters. Macbeth is always in asides as he slowly falls into madness. This is because he knows that he is ethically wrong in killing the king and should not have killed Duncan. The story also includes a chain of private guilt and punishment. Macbeth is slowly ascending into madness throughout the entire play. Macbeth killing the king made him feels guilty and his madness is his punishment simple as that. The supernatural is a huge piece of Macbeth being that the entire play is based on either some sort of ghost or the two prophecies within the play. Shakespeare also used contrast in the play. In Lady Macbeth she was very masculine in her language and very to the point like men typically is while Macbeth is very poetic and feminine throughout the entire play. After Duncan is killed Macbeth says that all the water in the world could not resolve him of his sins. Lady Macbeth is like eh a little water will clear this up.
3. The tragic hero in Macbeth is Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth is in a position of nobility; being that she is the wife of the greatest general of Scotland she is pretty noble. Then her tragic flaw then appears when she tells Macbeth to kill Duncan. Her flaw is her ambition it is what makes her eventually go insane at the end of the play. The crisis is the murder of Duncan and this is what causes the tragic chain of events. The tragic chain of events is when Banquo is killed and the awful dinner party where Macbeth sees the ghost of Banquo. Her reversal of fortune is when she is going insane in the final act. She then has her self-discovery when she goes insane. Then the Catharsis occurs and she cries and whines about how much of an awful person she is and then she dies which is the end of the tragic hero cycle.

1.) The two themes in macbeth are one that people will start do to evil things when power consumes them. Power makes people do evil things that others may find ridiculous. In the play Macbeth and lady macbeth both have the power through the play. Macbeth has power due to him being the thane of cawdor. However in the play they believe he should be the king, believing this made them make a plan to murder duncan. This plan worked and duncan was now dead giving the power to macbeth. Macbeth ran a dictatorship because when he felt threatened he got rid of the people. When he fealt threatened by macduff macbeth sent murderes to kill macduffs family. This shows that macbeth indeed did do a evil act which is soulless. North koreans dictator kim jong-un is a example of this do to his very ruthless leadership in which shut out everyone in the country.the second them is that people can easily be fooled by hope. In macbeth, macbeth is given information by 3 witches that he will become the king. Do to this info macbeth was so hopeful when duncan was going to announce the next aire to the thrown. However when not choosen he became enraged, and begun to feel that he had to take it in his own hands. After this the witches came back and said that no man born of women could not kill him until the forest moved towards the castle. However little did macbeth know macduff was not born of women and was "unnatural" and for this macbeth was killed.
ReplyDelete2.) Macbeth is a greek tragedy by the use of private guilt and punishment. This is shown through both lady macbeth and macbeth. Macbeth is going mentally insane and is upset through the whole play. Lady macbeth took longer to get to this point. But it is when the doctor can not help her do to his lack of experience with her kind of insanity. Noone knew why both were this way making it private. This play also has the evolution of justice. Macbeth could everything he could from being a dictator. Since he killed macduffs family there is a war with england and macduff himself is the one that killed macbeth getting his justice on macbeth.
The play is also a shakesperean tragedy. The use of fate is highly used in this play. Everything that macbeth was about is a use of fate. The witches told him his fate and macbeth believed all of it that he was told, also that anything they said came true. The use of supernatural is used also. The three witches come in and out of the whole play. The witches can see the future and tell fates.
3.) The tragic hero in the play was macbeth. Do to his throne of glamis he is a noble character. His ambition his is tragic flaw. Since his ambition was not fulfilled at the beginning of the play this got him into trouble. Macbeths crisis is his debate whether or not to kill duncan. Following this crisis was a chain of events. These would include macbeth killing duncan, killing macduffs family, and killing banque. However when macbeths men and malcolm conspire against him is the reversal of fortune. When his wife lady macbeth dies this is the self discovery. Macbeth discovers that he wont live a good life with all the ambition he has. When macbeths wife dies reality hits him this is the cathorsis. Lastly the tragic ending is when macduff kills macbeth.
Item 1:
ReplyDeleteTheme 1: Fate versus Free Will
The question throughout the play "Macbeth" is, is it Macbeth's fate to be a traitor and a King Killer? Or is he alone responsible for his actions, and did he freely choose his choice? In the play the three witches explain the proficy, saying that Macbeth will become Thane of Cowdor and then he will become King. It also says that Banquo's sons will become king at some point. Given the proficy, Fate is a main factor in this play because everything that happens is predetermined. Although Macbeth chooses to do what he does, He does it based on the proficy which is exactly what the witches thought he would do. Killing Duncan and Macduf's parents was inevitable for Macbeth making Fate versus Free Will a major theme in the play.
Theme 2: Corrupt Leadership
This is another major theme because when Macbeth becomes king he becomes insane along with Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth has hallucinations of blood on her hands once Duncan was murdered and Macbeth kept seeing the ghost of Banquo. the phrase "Fair is foul and foul is fair" places a huge role in the play because Macbeth and Lady Macbeth believe that murdering Duncan is foul but is the only way to be fair due to the proficy making everything that happens predetermined within Macbeth.
Item 2:
One element of Greek Tragedy would be that the story involves a chain of private guilt and punishment . This applies to Macbeth because after Macbeth and Lady Macbeth kill Duncan they live their life from then on with the horrible thought of killing Duncan and Macbeth says, "All the water in the ocean could not remove the blood from my hands" saying that he cannot forgive himself for what he has done and it carries on with him throughout the play. Another element would be that the story involves the evolution of justice because after Macduff See's what Macbeth has done he makes it a mission to kill Macbeth to get justice and to save the kingdom from Macbeth's corrupt leadership regardless of the proficy.
An element of Shakespeare's tragic form would be suspense because "Fair is foul and foul is fair foreshadows to the entire plot of Macbeth, along with the proficy. Another element of Shakspeare's tragic form would be Pathetic Fallacy because the actions of Macbeth affected the entire chain of events that occurred in the play, mainly the killing of Duncan.
Item 3:
Macbeth is a tragic hero because Macbeth is person of status based on the proficy, and he cannot control his tragic flaw because of fate and the proficy that was presented to him. Also the killing of Duncan leads to a crisis that ends with Macbeth's death, and the crisis leads to tragic chain of events because Macbeth breaks down slowly throughout the play. Then the proficy takes a turn because Macbeth fears that Banqou"s sons are going to become king in some way which scares him having many people be murdered. Macbeth discovers what killing Duncan has cost him and breaks down even more cause him to collapse infront of the people during dinner when he sees Banqou's ghost. Once the Macduff realizes what has occurred it results in Macbeth's murder maming Macbeth go through the entire tragic hero cycle thus, making Macbeth a tragic hero.
1. Ambition can lead to corruption. This can be seen in Macbeth throughout the play. “For brace Macbeth—well he deserves that name—Disdaining Fortune, with his brandished steel, Which smoked with bloody execution, Like valor’s minion carved out his passage Till he faced the slave; Which ne’er shook hands, nor bade farewell to him, till he unseamed him from the nave to the chaps, and fixed his head upon our battlements.” This line talks Macbeth up and describes him as a noble warrior who loves his king and land. If ambition did not corrupt Macbeth, then he would not have killed the king for power. If Macbeth actually loved his land like described, he would not have murdered the king for his own advancement. After he kills Duncan, he suffers from guilt and paranoia. Toward the end of the play he begins to go mad. Clearly, killing Duncan was not his best decision; Macbeth let his ambition take control of his life. The play shows that once violence was used, it was used again. Macbeth had no problem ordering the death of Banquo and his son Fleance. This was his good friend, and Macbeth let his ambition get the better of him by ordering the death of these two people.
ReplyDelete“Macbeth” illustrates the difference between kingship and tyranny. In the play, Duncan showed traits of kingship. He appreciated his generals and promoted Macbeth to the thane of Cowdor. This action shows that he had respect for Macbeth and all of his generals. “No more that thane of Cowdor shall deceive or bosom interest. Go pronounce his present death, and with his former title greet Macbeth”, said Duncan, promoting Macbeth. Duncan rewarded people of his country. Macbeth questioned his people’s loyalty to the country. He tested Macduff’s loyalty to the country in Act 4 Scene 3, by sending Malcom to talk to Macduff. This occurred when Macduff met Malcom in England. In this tragedy, Duncan shows kingship and Macbeth acts as a tyrant.
2. Greek Tragedies are based on myths. The witch’s prophesies are comparable to myths. The prophesies said that Macbeth would become Thane of Cowdor, become king, and Banquo’s blood would become king. The entire play is based on these prophesies. From the murder of Duncan, to the death of Macbeth, the play revolves around this “myth”. Another important element of Greek Tragedy is comedy. Comedy is shown in Macbeth through the porter. He is a drunk that gives speeches with a comedy element to them.
In Shakespearean tragedy, there is a noble character that is flawed in some way. This is clearly shown by Macbeth himself. He is a noble warrior at the beginning of the play, complemented and promoted by King Duncan. Macbeth lets ambition get the best of him and he murders his king. This is Macbeth’s flaw. Another element of Shakespearean tragedy is that this flawed character is put in a stressful situation that ends in death. Again, Macbeth himself is a prime example of this. He murders the king, then faces paranoia and madness throughout the play, causing stress. His decision of killing King Duncan eventually leads to his demise.
3. Macbeth is the tragic hero in “Macbeth”. A tragic hero is a literary character who makes a judgment error that inevitably leads to his/her own destruction. Macbeth is a military hero who fulfills the prophecies in the play. He also fulfills Lady Macbeth’s wishes. This shows his heroism. But Macbeth’s decision to kill King Duncan leads to his death. This meets all the traits in the definition of a tragic hero so Macbeth is the tragic hero of the Shakespearean tragedy “Macbeth”.
Ambition the devastation which follows when ambition oversteps moral boundaries.

Kingship and the difference between appropriate use of power and tyranny.
Some related scenes
Act 1 Scene 7: Macbeth reflects on Duncan's qualities as king.
Macbeth is a Shakespearean tragedy because in the beginning of the play he starts out a hero then he kills the king and after he did that he felt some guilt his wife take him throw it and at the end of the play he realized what all he had done wornge and he was killed shortly after that.
Macbeth is a Greek tragedy because Macbeth meets all three criteria by showing how Macbeth is ultimately destroyed because of his desire for power and position (a sense of pride is what causes us to desire these things), because of his chance meeting with the witches (fate), and because of the role the witches (are they gods?) played in leading Macbeth down a path of delusion.
Macbeth is a tragic hero because in the start of the story he is being praised for defeating the trader and repelling the enemy forces out of the country and later on he has the king over and he is staying at macbeth'a abode and wile the king is there Macbeth has a proficy told to him by some witches that he will be king so his wife presserrng him into killing the king he was having his doubts but he did it anyways and later on he is in his castle and it is being invaded he realized all his mistakes and he has to fight a man witch kills him

1.) One theme of Macbeth is that the desire for power can have several consequences. This theme is evident in Macbeth because in the story, he has to do several things that he ultimately regretted all in the desire to become the king of Scotland. For example, Macbeth had to kill Duncan which greatly affected him. This is something, I think, that Macbeth was pressured by Lady Macbeth to do, and had a negative impact on him. Also, in trying to gain power and status, Macbeth ultimately lost power and his desires resulted in his death.
Another theme of Macbeth could be that a person of high statuses’ fate is not predetermined, but is a result of his or her actions. This theme is evident in Macbeth because regardless of what the witches said, Macbeth’s want to be the king of Scotland and his own personal actions determined his fate. For example, murdering Duncan was Macbeth’s own personal action and regardless of what anyone said, that action was Macbeth’s decision and had a negative impact on him.
2.) Macbeth is both an example of Greek Tragedy and Shakespearean tragedy because he is an example of the tragic hero cycle. Also, this play/story as a whole shows what Shakespeare’s work was like by showing a person of high status having a desire for power and having his or her actions ultimately having a tragic ending.
3.) I think that Macbeth is the tragic hero in Macbeth. I believe this because throughout the play, he goes through the tragic hero cycle. He starts off as a wealthy, noble person. He cannot, however, control his tragic flaw, which is to gain higher power and status. He will do practically anything to achieve this, even committing murder. This tragic flaw leads to a crisis, as well as tragic chain of events. In killing Duncan, Macbeth exemplifies his tragic flaw in wanting to gain power and status. After doing this, he goes through the reversal of fortune. Then, he realizes what he has done and can’t live with his past actions. After that, he enters into several conflicts with the people of Scotland, and is killed by MacDuff. With all of these events occurring throughout the play, I think that Macbeth is the tragic hero in this story.
1.)
ReplyDeleteTheme 1- People are easily fooled by hope.
The witches had informed Macbeth that he would be the next aire chosen to take the thrown, but when he isnt chosen he becomes infuriated and takes control of the situation. The witches told him no man born of women could kill him until the forest moved towards the castle. Macduff had an unnatural child birth meaning he wasnt born of women and then he is killed.
Theme 2- Power gets the best of people.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth both believe Macbeth should have power. They plan out and kill Duncan. This resembles a dictatorship and when threatend he gets rid of people. While being threatend by Macduff, he sent people to kill his wife and son.
2.)
Macbeth is a form of Greek Tragedy through private guilt and punishment. Macbeth is absolutely insane throughout the play yet he stays sorrowful. Lady Macbeth was never sorrowful she was just insane and the doctors couldnt do much because she had never word on herself ever before. The play also has the evolution of justice because Macbeth has everything he deserves from being a dictator, so as the war with england is going on, Macduff is the one to get to Macbeth and kill him.
The use of fate was also experienced through out the entire play because Macbeth himself is a figure of fate. The witches tell Macbeth his fate and everything comes true. the witches are in and out of the entire play and can see the future and determine ones fate.
3.)
Macbeth is the tragic hero of this play. He is a noble character. his tragic flow is his ambition and it occurs in the beginning of the play which will get him in trouble. The crisis Macbeth faced was to kill Duncan or not. Following this very crisis he killed Duncan, and Macduffs famiy. The reversal of fortune comes when his own men and malcom turn against him. His ambition got the best of him when he realized what a crappy life he had been living. The catharsis is when his wife passes and reality takes full swing. The tragic ending of it all is Macduff killing him.
1. Everything isn't always what it seems is one theme. The third witch tells Macbeth that he will be king. When he hears this he believes that nothing bad will happen to him and only good things are going on for him. She fails to tell him at first that this will be his downfall in the end of the play.
ReplyDeleteAnother theme is that you should think before you act. When they kill Duncan lady Macbeth is all for the murder and in a way forces Macbeth to go through with it. Towards the end of the story she becomes extremely I'll from all of the lies and things her and Macbeth have done eventually leading to her death. Overall this who situation wouldn't have occurred if she hadn't forced Macbeth to kill Duncan in the very beginning.
2. The story is both because throughout the whole play elements of both greek and Shakespearean tragedy.
3. The tragic hero in Macbeth is Macduff. In the story he is a noble person who is friends with Macbeth and shortly becomes a sort of outlaw to Macbeth. His tragic flaw is when his family is killed while he is visiting Duncan's son in Britan. He becomes better in the end when he kills Macbeth.
Item one: Two Themes in Macbeth are one You will always pay for the actions you commit. Two, Trying to prove to a women that makes you do something that you are a man makes you less of man.
ReplyDeleteMacbeth pays for his actions for killing Duncan, he has horrible hallucinations, he loses power as king, or of anything, and he dies.
My second theme is proven because he is being bossed around by a little tiny lady, he is allowing her to control it all.
Item Two: Macbeth fits every characteristic of a Greek and Shakespearean tragic hero. We get to see the full cycle of a rise to power, followed by a greater fall. Macbeth displays all the characteristics of a tragic hero, making him an infamous character in Shakespeare’s time as well as present day. Greek Tragedy involves Fate. Fate VS Free Will. As well as A Character committed a crime without realizing how foolish and arrogant he has become, then as he slowly realizes his error, the world crumbles around him. Macbeth relates to Fate Vs free will in the way he could've lived up to Being the King without killing Duncan, He just choose to kill, Though fate always has the same result, because you are destined for that. the choices he made in between didn't have to happen the way they did.
He relates to the other part of a Greek Tragedy because he lets a women (Lady Macbeth) convince him to hurry up and become king so just kill duncan and throughout the play he slowly loses his grip on reality and begins to become a mad man. Out of foolishness he destroys his life and others.
Macbeth is a Shakespearean tragedy because Shakespearean tragedy deals with a Noble protagonist who is flawed in a way, I think Macbeth was Naive and too prideful to be thought of "less than a man" by his wife who kept badgering him about his manliness. Secondly most of Shakespeare's plays plots focus on the reverse of fortune of the central character ( Macbeth or even Lady Macbeth) which leads to their collapse of greatness and ultimately their death. This relates to Macbeth because he was basically a governor for two different places, as well as already had a huge mansion, but he of course wanted more and let his pride get in his way to ultimately destroy him.
So Macbeth is both a Greek Tragedy and a Shakespearean Tragedy in the way we see for a Greek Tragedy we see Fate Vs Free will, and our Tragic hero commits a crime that drives him mad. He follows the criteria for a Shakespeare Tragedy because He was Noble protagonist who is flawed, as well as the plot plays out with focus on the reverse of the fortune of the central character/characters
Item 3: The tragic hero in Macbeth is Macbeth After the witches told Macbeth about his bright future of nobility in Scotland, his honorable nature seemed to fade, and was soon replaced by a “by any means necessary” attitude. His fatal flaws include his blind ambition, how naive he is, and how prideful he is of being a man. These 3 characteristics lead to his death, He murders to prove he is a man, then his blind ambition is what keeps him killing to stay afloat, and him being naive lets his wife convince him what he is doing is okay.
1You will always pay for the actions you commit. 2 Trying to prove to a women that makes you do something that you are a man makes you less of man. 1 because for every sin commited another evil is going to happen afterwards. Macbeth pays for his actions for killing Duncan. After he kills duncan he has horrible hallucinations, and revenge is going to happen from everyone else. He then kills everyone who questions him. Then they all attack back and well then he loses everything he has worked for.
ReplyDeleteMy second theme is proven because he is being bossed around by a little tiny lady, he is allowing her to control it all. She constantly is challenging his masculinity and ends up tormenting him with his own fears and habits.
Macbeth fits every characteristic of a Greek and Shakespearean tragic hero. We get to see the full cycle of a rise to power, followed by a greater fall. He is a Shakespearean hero because they are a highly noble person who has a great flaw he was high up on the ranking then he let his masculinity and greed take over. Greek tragedy is all brought on by fate. He challenges fate by altering what is in the future by murder fear and greed. But fate will always be restored because it came back to bite him back in the butt. Like he ended up not being the king Cuz he was killed he lost everything he fought for.
The tragic hero is Macbeth he was a noble man as he began to see other ways of life by the word of others he loses all nobility his major flaw is being challenged by his wife. His flaw is his masculinity. He is constantly challenged by his wife about his way of life. He becomes a slave to her every wish and let's his fear control him
1.) One of the two themes I’ve chosen for the poem MacBeth is the theme of Power. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, in this poem power is natural, until it’s not. The witches were not exactly natural, but once MacBeth killed Duncan, he went against the natural order of the live in this poem. He killed his own king, and then gets killed himself. But in this poem, it was okay for MacBeth to be assassinated because he himself had become a tyrant. My second theme for MacBeth is ambition. Once MacBeth got a taste of the power, he was literally willing to kill or hurt anyone whom disagreed with his seat on the throne as king without fault. But he doesn’t get to enjoy this power for long because he puts his own goals ahead of the better goals for the sake of his own country.
ReplyDelete2.) One example about MacBeth being a Greek Tragedy is the fact that it takes place and is based in one single location and all greek tragedies take place in one single locations and do not bounce around. Obviously this poem takes place in Scotland, as is well known for plays taking place here. This is also a shakespearean tragedy because it uses supernatural. This is used through the use of the three witches by telling of the future for MacBeth, he ends up trying to change his fate but it does not work.
3.) Tragic hero cycles usually starts out with a person whom is known for certain status, MacBeth has gotten his status from joining the war and being in many battles. Once he becomes Thane of Cowdar he gains a lot of power. But this isn’t enough for him, once he sees what the power is capable of doing, he tries to gain more. This is where the ambition theme comes into play very largely because his thirst for power will never be quenched. This would eventually lead to his own demise, thus ending his cycle.
1. One theme in Macbeth is what goes around comes back around. Since Macbeth killed Duncan so he could become king, it came back around to hunt him by him being killed. My second theme is being controlled by a women makes you less of a man. Macbeth let lady Macbeth control him and he let her do whatever she wanted and that made him look like a coward.
ReplyDelete2. This play falls into both categories because Macbeth falls into a deep stage of insanity. He knows he was in the wrong whenever he killed Duncan and hid it from everyone. Also, the lady is very more of a man than he is. Whenever he kills Duncan, he talks about how all the ocean water wouldn't cleanse his hands and lady Macbeth is like eh just wash your hands and it'll come off.
3. The tragic hero in the play is Macbeth. The witches told him that basically no one in Scotland could touch him and he took that to his advantage by thinking he was unstoppable. Lady Macbeth thinks it's ok that he killed Duncan and tries to play it off which leads to her husbands death.
Item 1: One Theme in Macbeth is how being too powerful and too ambitious is a bad thing. After Macbeth heard his prophecy from the witches that he will become King, that is all he wanted. Macbeth was willing to do whatever it takes to become King, which meant even killing Duncan. This shows how ambitious Macbeth was and how this is such a bad thing because it led to him murdering the King. Even after Macbeth became King of Scotland he was still worried that someone would take that away from him. This led to him then killing his good friend Banquo and Macduff’s whole family. Macbeth was willing to kill anyone who threatened him being king.
ReplyDeleteAnother Theme in Macbeth is “What goes around comes around”. No matter what happened Macbeth was going to pay for it. He kept listening to his wife that made him do worse and worse things and if he didn’t she would insult him or challenge him. This began to drive him insane.
